Hello
I am Sara Singer Schiff, and as a mother of three teenage daughters, I’ve experienced the challenges of parenting in the age of social media firsthand. With a master’s degree in Media and Cultural Studies and 20 years of media experience, I’ve seen how media shapes lives. I founded Media Minded to empower families with the tools and knowledge to navigate the digital world confidently and responsibly.

My Story
After earning my master’s degree from the University of London, I began my career in television distribution during the format explosion, selling British television shows to international broadcasters. Transitioning into journalism, I joined the London branch of iVillage, a pioneer in the online women’s magazine space, and helped launch Wrap, a high-end print magazine for arthouse filmmakers in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
I also produced Women Future, one of the world’s first global digital conferences. With funding from British Telecom, I used emerging digital technology to create a live, interactive forum featuring leading female business figures from around the world. After moving to Los Angeles in 2002, I continued my journalism career, writing for the LA Times Special Advertising Section while raising my three daughters. In 2015, I launched and co-produced The Other F Word, a podcast exploring the transformative power of failure. Over 133 episodes, we featured guests like Sharon Stone, Tony Hale, and Captain Scott Kelly. The podcast was named to iTunes’ New & Noteworthy list and earned widespread recognition. More recently, I’ve worked in radio, producing shows like Left, Right & Center and Press Play at KCRW. With a passion for storytelling, journalism, and audio production, I’m dedicated to creating meaningful, impactful content that connects with audiences.
